Freaky Friday

Nothing like starting a Friday morning off by finding out your apartment complex has been hit TWICE for armed carjacking!

So I wake up this morning, 30 minutes earlier than usual because my plan was to pack my car up for the bachelorette party girl's weekend that is happening in Galveston so as to avoid having to come home after work. So I'm up, take the dogs out, (take Shep out twice) pull my car around, and begin to finish getting ready. Right when I am about to bring my last bit of stuff down to the car, I hear a knock on my door...of course Chanel goes absolutely ballistic as I hurry to throw on a shirt. When I get to the door I see it's my neighbor and I step outside to talk to her. (This is where it gets REAL). The first words out of her mouth are "Ummm did you hear about the carjacking that happened here????" My response, "UMMMMM NO!" She then proceeds to tell me how as she is getting ready for work this morning she heard our apartment complex on the news about a young women being held at gunpoint, forced to get out of her car and was robbed. HERE is the link to the news story. On top of the EXTREMELY RECENT event, about a month ago what I thought was just a guy getting harassed by our cop one morning was actually ANOTHER attempted carjacker.

Let's rewind to January. I'm walking Chanel outside before I leave for work, and I see this lanky white kid pleading to the cop to just "Let me go Man, please". I assume that the guy just got caught parking where he shouldn't or something and go on about my way...well I was definitely wrong! My neighbor proceeded to tell me this morning how that same man I saw had actually been arrested for carjacking. She saw his pull in the complex and drive through several times. He then went and parked at the reserved spots across from out specific unit. After sitting parked for a while, a BMW drives through and into the garage. Everyone at the complex knows that our on-site cop drives a BMW...guess this guy didn't. He proceeds to get out of his car, leave his door open and make his way creepily towards the BMW where he pulls a gun out and points it at the cop as he is getting out of his car. As you can imagine, the cop pulled his gun out at lighting speed and told the guy to get on the ground, handcuffed him, and then proceeded to walk him back to his truck where he called for back-up. I only saw a guy next to a truck...had no idea what had just happened. The man had a warrant out for his arrest also...super.

My apartment complex didn't inform us about EITHER of these incidents. The only reason I found out about the first one is because of my neighbor and the second one because it was on the NEWS! As you can imagine I'm a little wound up this morning and for the first time EVER in my life, I truly want a gun. I have never had the desire to own one but after feeling the way I felt this morning...my feelings have taken a complete 180. I know I live in Houston and yes in a city of 4 million there is bound to be crime, but it still doesn't make it any less scary knowing all this when a deadly crime happens in your front yard.

Thank goodness I will be gone all weekend. I need to get the hell outta dodge for a while...

ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings people!

Have a safe weekend dolls.

Hi, My Name is Danni and I like to rescue dogs.

Yesterday as I was doing my afternoon stalking browsing on Facebook I noticed that a girl from back home had posted several photos of what looked like and Australian Shepherd puppy. If you know me, you know that my very own daughter/fur baby is an Aussie so I was immediately intrigued. After browsing all the pictures I found out that he had been hanging around a neighborhood in Bridge City for the past few days and that no one had been looking for him/claimed him. The worst part is that a terrible storm has been moving through Texas this week and the poor thing was stuck outside in the frightening weather all night under a car. :’( Doesn’t that just break your heat, because it sure breaks mine. The FB friend said that she had called all the shelters in the area and that they were all COMPLETELY full because of the bad weather and that the only place that would take him would be the pound and there they would only keep him for 48 hours before he would be……. :’(. To top everything her husband didn’t want her keeping the dog past yesterday evening.
After learning all this information Trevor and I, animal lovers at their best, knew exactly what was going to happen. We would get the dog, give it a good night’s rest and some love, then go from there. I can’t BARE the thought of a perfectly healthy, happy puppy having his life cut short because his original owners couldn’t take care of him. I seriously hope the original owners break both their legs, dead serious. There is a VERY special place in hell for people that abuse and don’t take care of animals/children.
 Before the drive yesterday.
On the way home.
So yesterday evening around 8 we finally made it back to Houston. Poor guy was so exhausted he slept the ENTIRE way to Houston. After getting terrorized by meeting Chanel and walking around outside for a while, we put down a big old comforter down near the couches.  He curled up on it and went right back to sleep.
When we first got home yesterday
Not a very good shot, but I was trying to get a picture of his pretty white chest.
Him on his comforter. Rags to Riches.

FLook at that face, he's such a cutie.
Eyes full of love.

He woke off only briefly yesterday evening to eat a few bites and have some water before he was conked out again. We did move him later in the evening to let him lay on his blanket on the couch which is where he fell asleep like this:

His face is leaning up against the back of the couch and his eyes were just fluttering. He was also making all kinds of crazy noises. We think he was dreaming. :)
He really is the sweetest little guy and he has beautiful colors on him. Trevor and I of course were torn because on one side we really want to keep him. On the other hand, we both live in small apartments (Trevor can’t have dogs in his) and we also have another very bossy Australian Shepherd. It’s not really Chanel we are worried about; it’s the lack of space that is the problem. Also the potty training task along with vet bills because I’m pretty sure he needs his shots, heartworm medication, a flea bath, and to be spade. So today during lunch we are bringing him to Friends for Life in the Heights which is the best of the best when it comes to shelters. They adopt their animals out so quickly and they take very good care of them while they are there. (Check out their Website) We plan on going to back to visit him as they clean him up and get him ready for adoption. Who knows…maybe in a month you’ll be seeing a post on our new puppy. ;-)
This last shot is of my daughter who last night was really struggling through some jealousy issue, Haha. Overall though she did really well with our new friend and I was proud of her. I mean come on, how would you feel is some stranger just came in your house and are your family was paying tons and tons attention to him? J
My girl.
Side Note: I love the fact that I am with a man that has such a big heart when I comes to animals, he really is the greatest… just wanted to through that out there. J

Ten on Tuesday #2

Today I am linking up for another "Ten on Tuesday"!

10 on Tuesday

1. Should we keep doing Ten on Tuesday?
I really enjoy it! So I vote yes. :)

2. How do you pick out your sunglasses?
I usually just try and find some that I think look good on me and aren't too terribly expensive since I have somehow lost or broke nearly every pair of sunglasses I have ever owned.

3. Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
Yes I do. And did big time this year. It was not only St. Patty's Day but also our good friend Cody's birthday so we rented a party bus! And went from Houston to Galveston and back Saturday night. SO MUCH FUN.

4. Name 5 movies that you will never get sick of.
The Holiday, The Devil Wears Prada, Love & Basketball, He's Just Not Than Into You, Beauty and the Beast

5. Name 1 book that you will never get sick of.
I feel like the most obvious choice will have to be the Bible. But I also think I could read the last Twilight or Harry Potter book over and over and over again.

6. Do you know any sign language?
I know the alphabet!

7. What is your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie?
I honestly haven't had any in so long I can't even name any of them.

8. Are you handy? (Can you fix or build anything?)
I think I'm pretty handy. I'm a problem solver. But I have to admit that Trevor usually fixes everything and anything before I can even get to it. He's seriously Mr. Fix It.

9. In what form do you prefer your potatoes? (Baked, mashed, au gratin, hashbrowns, twice baked, etc.)
Baked.

10. Do you believe the saying “actions speak louder than words”?
To an extent. Words definitely can mean a lot and can also hurt a lot. But the actions following the words are usually very clear, no matter what was said.

"It's Okay Thursday" #1

Its Ok Thursdays

Today I am linking up with Amber at "Brunch with Amber" to participate in "It's Ok Thursdays".

It's Okay...

...that I look forward to Thursday because of Bollywood Shake at the gym, Grey's Anatomy, and Jersey Shore (#guiltypleasure).

...that I went to Panera Bread for lunch instead of going home to eat lunch (for the first time in 2 weeks).

...that I only drank 60 ounces of water today and not 100.

...to not feel guilty about missing a wedding of someone you don't know because you can't leave your furbaby (Chanel)

...to still be friends with your old boss from the job you hated.

...to be SUPER excited about new work out shoes...oh yeah!

...that if I got married today 50% of my bridesmaids would already be engaged/married.
                 Pinned Image<-----LOL

....to give all your family members and boyfriend your business card just because it makes you feel so grown up.

...to have a glass of wine in the evenings (after the gym) because sales people stress you out.

What's okay with you this week? LINK UP!

Ten on Tuesday #1

10 on Tuesday
Today I am linking up with Chelsea at Roots & Rings for Ten on Tuesday!

1. What are your designated chores in your home?
Well since I live in my own apartment, I am responsible for it all. :) It's a good thing my apartment is the size of a shoebox.

2. What is your least favorite chore to do around the house?
Cleaning the bathroom. UGH, gross. But it's even more gross to go into a bathroom you can tell hasn't been cleaned in a while.

3. What was your designated chore growing up?
One of the downsides of being an only child in my case was my parents made me help with all the chores. I'd like to think of myself as a live in housekeeper. I did all the inside stuff with my mom and then Dad would haul my butt outside to clean the pool and pick up pine cones out of the front yard.

4. Did you get paid to do chores or was your allowance connected to you completing your chores?
HAHA, get paid. That's funny. No..it was more like do the chores if you want to have a social life.

5. If you had a bit of extra money, would you hire a cleaning person or would you save the money for something else?
Y-E-S!

6. What chores will you make your kids do around the house?
Well, since Chanel is the closest thing I have to a kid and she is a dog....not a thing.

7. How frequently do you do laundry? Wash your sheets? Dust?
Laundry "sigh"...
I use to be a pro at laundry, never allowing it to get backed up at all. I could never realize how people let laundry pile up and get out of control...until I got a full-time job. Now I probably do laundry every 2 weeks...sometimes 3 depending on how busy I am, or if I really want to wear that particular clothing item that is dirty. Sheets...probably not as often as I should....Dust, in my apartment, there isn't a lot too dust besides the TV.

8. Do you have a designated “chore day” during the week?
Nope

9. What is your favorite chore–if such a thing exists?
I like grocery shopping...if you count that as a chore. I also really like vacuuming because I love how clean the floor looks when your done.

10. Do you do anything to help pass the time while doing chores (music, TV, etc.)?
I usually watch TV to keep me entertained.

Friday Favorites

Hello dolls! It's finally Friday! And this Friday I am linking up with Carlie at The Duplechin Daily for Friday Favorites. :)

What I am loving:

-GloGirl Airbrush Tanning. I love being tan but of course would like to avoid the skin cancer. Stacey at GloGirl does such a good job and if you have two other people with you, it's only 25$! My co-worker Pam and her daughter wanted to go so today after work I get to be tan again. :) If you live in the Houston area check her out on facebook!

-"LA Candy" By Lauren Conrad.

I was a Laguna Beach fan back in the day so I obviously adore L.C. This is my first book since I finished "The Hunger Games" trilogy/had a small breakdown and I am really liking it so far.

-Speaking of "The Hunger Games", the first movie is coming out in 22 days! Can we say excited!?! And I have managed to get Trevor hooked on the first book so he will be done before the movie comes out. :)

-Jimmy Buffet Station on Pandora. It's so relaxing. My only complaint is that it makes me want to be on a beach.

-Getting to see my Housewife this weekend. :)

-My new Job. I really love what I am doing and love the people I work with even more. Plus that pay increase wasn't to shabby, and because of it, I have plans to buy my first Louis Vuitton. :) In 2 months you will be mine. (One of you, at least)
Which one do you like more?

-Target's "Color Changes Everything" Commercial.
I don't know what my obsession is with this commercial but every time I hear it I just want to dance around like a crazy French person. It's just so happy! Thoughts?

-Spending the evening with the best guy I know. :)

Have a great weekend dolls!

Bachelorette Oath of Secrecy

As promised I am starting to make a series of posts about all things bridesmaid. Now one of the biggest duties of being a bridesmaid or a Maid/Matron of honor is throwing your Bride to Be the most fabulous bachelorette party. Now, that could mean a wide variety of things depending on what the bride wants. A lot of the bachelorette parties that I have been a part of involved going out on the town at night. And a fun small thing we had at the last bachelorette party I was a part of, was an Oath of Secrecy. Now it's nothing crazy and yes some parts are a little over the top, but it was fun and also something for the bride to hold on to for keepsake. It gave our group some good laughs and the marriage advice was great too. If you would like the actual word document, leave me a comment and I will gladly e-mail it to you. :)

BACHELORETTE OATH OF SECRECY
In the Contract/Oath below, you must adhere to all guidelines and procedures in a strict fashion. When the document refers to the Bachelorette, she will be signified as "Queen B" and the girls consisting of the Bachelorette party as "Divas."
Please take the following document as serious (seriously funny) as possible since it will provide hours of fun and memories.

1.  We, THE LADIES OF HEATHER’S BACHELORETTE PARTY solemnly swear that on the weekend of   FEBRUARY 4TH    , 2012 in celebration of HEATHER******  's Bachelorette party, I will abide by the following rules and regulations:

There will be, in no way, pictures with boys, men, or any animals while the Bachelorette party is in progress. Failure to follow this rule will automatically make you lose your Diva status for the weekend.

2.  You will consume alcoholic beverages and promote drunkenly misconduct in the safest and most appropriate fashion. If you are a sober driver or have a note from a doctor, you are excused from drinking but you must still promote animalistic behavior.

3.  You must never leave a single Diva or the Queen Bee unattended, due to boys-men who are termed as Vultures, Sharks, Pigs, Mars, Tools for Procreation…etc.

4.  A Diva who has too much alcohol or has poor taste and is speaking with sleazy unattractive boys/men for more than one minute must be escorted back to the Diva lair for protection and to save herself from embarrassment (which would have possibly occurred the following morning).

5.  Loud, obnoxious outbursts are welcome during the Bachelorette festivities with at least one type of alcohol shot purchased by the Divas for Queen B consumption.

6.  Dancing is required by you and it is important to make sure all Divas and Queen B are participating.

7.  In case of the emergency of a Diva needing to pray to the porcelain goddess or visit Mr. Tidy Bowl Man, it is essential that you make sure one Diva goes with the other Diva In Need (DIN).

8.  It is your responsibility to commute to a more exciting atmosphere when Queen B and/or Diva energy is dwindling. You must interact with other Divas to form a plan in moving to a more exciting environment.

9.  You will not, at any time, think of work-related matters. If work does consume your mind, you will forfeit Diva status and be seen as an outcast by the Divas.

10. Before signing the document below, I will say out loud, "What happens at    HEATHER  's Bachelorette party STAYS at    HEATHER   's Bachelorette party!"

Advice for the Queen B about marriage:

A Wedding, #DietCokeproblems, and Workout Class Adventures

Happy almost Friday dolls!
I hope that everyone has had a great week this week! And if not, well folks it's nearly Friday so the weekend is in very clear sight.
Two weekends back (I know I have been slacking on my blogging) was the big wedding of the Coco's. Yes that really is their last name, their favors were actually hot coco; Cute right? Anyways, the weekend went very well. The bride looked beautiful (nearly flawless actually). At every wedding that I have been a part of, the bride has always looked the most beautiful I have ever seen her, always. It's was the same situation for Amy, Marina, Ashley, and now Heather, there is just this glow of that day. The glow, paired with the perfect dress, make-up and hair topped off with the pure joy that you are about to marry the one the completes your soul equals a stunning bride. I wish the Coco's a lifetime of happiness and love.
Maid of Honor, Bride (looking perfect), and Matron of Honor
The dress fit her like a glove.
 First Dance-Keeper of the Stars
 Beautiful centerpieces
 My hott date. ;)
Love a man in a tux.
This group knows how to party!
 Bride and Groom Table
I was so ready to catch that bouquet! (Sadly, I did not)
BUUUTTT The bride to give me her original bouquet. At the very end of the reception she found me and said some very kind and special things to me and gave me the bouquet. I'm not going to divulge the story because I feel like things like that are meant to be kept private but thank you H, for all that you said.
I've started this new water accountability thing with a co-worker of mine. Basically I have an addiction to Diet Coke. And no I am not over exaggerating. I LOVE diet coke, but I drink way too much of it. Why don't I just drink more water instead? Well, because I hate water. I hate drinking it unless I am at the gym, and even then I don't drink much of it. So my new thing is I now am allowed my morning Diet Coke (since I do not drink coffee) and then after that, I have to drink four 16 ounce glasses before I can have another one, and so on. It's going to be tough but I am really trying to drink more water. I'll keep you posted...
Along with drinking more water I have decided to take advantage of my gym's workout classes they offer. So far I have indulged in Bollywood Shake, Taserobics, Strictly Core and Stepping. Bollywood Shake has been my favorite so far, it's a combination of tradition Indian moves, belly dancing, Latin dance, and a little bit of hip hop. They turn out the lights and turn on the disco ball and it feels like a party. Taserobics was fun but tough, and I am still sore from it. Taserobics is a traditional high-low impact Aerobics class combined with strength movements that is designed to reshape and tone your gluts, abs, and legs. The strictly CORE class is exactly what it sounds like, all abs. It hurts to sit up...GREAT SUCESS! Stepping was by FAR the most challenging to me. You all have heard of steppin class I am sure. The step bench raised less than a foot off the ground, you step up...you step down, easy enough right? WRONG! I'd like to think I have rhythm but clearly after taking this class, I suck at following directions. I was stepping in all the wrong places for the first 30 minutes but you bet you’re a$$ I was sweating like I was sunbathing in Arizona (drenched I tell you).  I bet I would have been entertaining to watch. Overall though I would recommend any of the classes above, they were all really great workouts they targeted different things. Plus the classes make an hour long workout go by so much faster than lifting/traditional cardio. Tonight is Bollywood Shake again and I'm kind of excited. :)
Last, but certainly not least, my Cajun blood has be craving crawfish almost as bad as I crave diet coke. (I'm looking at you Trevor Davis)
Happy Thursday Dolls!
