Not Your Average Wedding Wednesday

So Saturday....I woke up and dragged my butt to Zumba then Body Pump (second time team teaching, WOO!) and after went to the always delicious La Madeline with Trev. While were enjoying a fruit tart thingy my phone rings. It's my ever so awesome Housewife/Soul-Sister calling I'm sure to tell me about her weekend get-a-way she is at with her BF.

ME-"Hey, what's up"

HW-"Colin Proposed!"

Me-"OHHHMYYYYGODDDDD!!!!"-

I use all caps because the volume was a bit much...like loud....so loud that the whole restaurant turned and stared at me. I swear even the cheerful French music cut off.

I run outside and proceed to hear the shortened version of the amazing moment she whole heartedly deserves. The full version I got a few days later once her phone had stopped being blown up, was even better.

I always love proposals where the girl seriously has no idea, and this my friends, was just that. She knew that her and C were serious but wasn't expecting the ring at this time. He even hired a photographer to take pictures of the proposal, which turned out fabulous. It also made Housewife realize she should probably pay more attention to her surroundings since she got stalked by a dude and his small son for about 30 minutes and never even noticed them. But seriously the pictures are amazing and C did a great job making sure HW had no idea that it was coming. I don't think I have ever seen her smile bigger or cry more. This girl is not a crier but the (happy) tears just wouldn't stop that day.

This girl has been a huge blessing in my life for the past 5 years and I don't have any sisters but I tell ya she is as close as I'll get. She has the biggest heart and loves unconditionally. I seriously can't be any happier for her and cannot wait for all the laughter, probably some tears, and special moments that come with planning a wedding.

Friday Favorites

It's time for another round of linking up with Carlie at The Duplechin Daily for Friday Favorites. :)

Who is excited for the weekend...THIS GIRL! Work has been shockingly slow this week, making the days crawl by. I enjoy being busy at work much more than slow because the end of the day shows up a lot quicker.
My BFF/Housewife/Soul-Sister is coming in town the weekend with her "main squeeze" and will be our first real guests at the house!  Also our good friend JC, (who has recently moved to North Dakota for work) will also be in town. :)
We have spent the past two evenings working from the moment we got home to get the house COMPLETELY organized, unpacked, and decorated. We have everyone room decorated except ...lol...our own room. We would rather have the rest of the house nice and pretty for guests. Plus I want new stuff for the master bedroom and home decor is pricey!!! There is something about having your first house guest and actually having a guest bedroom that makes you feel grown up. :)

Saturday we are all attending our friends Heather & Heather's "Mad Hatter" Bridal Shower.

Click here to find out the story on the invitations

The theme comes from the classic tale of "Alice in Wonderland". It is a cute and fun theme for a party. Everyone is supposed to wear hats, however, convincing Trevor to wear one has proved to be a difficult task, hah.

August is 1 of my favorite months of the year. (Tied with December) Not only is my birthday on the 28th but as of the 25th, Trevor and I will have been dating for 5 years. The honest truth is I couldn't be happier. I didn't think you could continue falling in love with someone year after year, but I stand corrected.
August also marks the start to the always busy fall season. How busy you ask? Well as of the weekend of August 18th, Trevor and I have something going on every weekend from that point until October 27th! (except one, we have one free weekend, ha). Between birthdays, wedding festivities, Aggie Football, and work, it's going to be a CRAZY couple on months. I wouldn't change it for the world. :)

So it begins, the end of summer to fall countdowns... I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and has some fun. After this long week, we all deserve it. Cheers dolls!

Days until our good friend Brandt's backyard bash birthday party-15

Tuesday Favorites?

Welcome back to another addition of Friday Tuesday Favorites. Yes I am fully aware that today is Tuesday but it all ways but the actual day, today is my Friday. With the 4th of July tomorrow (no work) and the 3rd Annual River Trip starting on Thursday, I am cruising on in to a 5 day weekend. :)

What I am loving:

Getting to go to my first professional soccer game in the Houston Dynamo's new stadium tonight with our couple BBFs. SCORE!

Getting to see my family tomorrow. My lovely/amazing/awesome grandparents are going to watch Chanel and Shep this weekend during our get-a-way to the Hill Country. We're also getting a new dryer and a lawnmower that isn't from the Great Depression...like this one that we have had to use the past few weeks. LOL.
.

3rd Annual River Trip!!! Less than 48 hours away!
Not only to I get to be here for 3 full days.....

Catching Up Thanks, an Engagement, and a Birthday.

Apologies for my absence but life has been crazy busy, but awesome none the less.

Before I do some major catch-up on my 30 Days of Thanks, I want to send a BIG Congratulations out to one of my oldest and dearest friends, Ashley B.(see stars in my Sky) and her new fiancĂ©' Colin on their engagement that happened last night. Since we became friends in our junior year of high school, we have had PLENTY of discussions of weddings, proposals, and all other things bridal and I couldn't be any happier for her that she now gets to live out all those dreams. Congratulations again to the future Mrs. Franks. :)

Also, a big Happy Birthday shout out to another long time and great friend, J.C. Can't wait to celebrate Tuesday night!

Okay so keeping up with these 30 days of Thanks has been a little more difficult that I thought. So with that being said, I am going to do a little combining on days of thanks because I want to catch up!

Day 14-17: My Job
Okay so if you know me at all, you know that I, at time, am less than pleased with my primary job. I won't elaborate much but it's definitely a glass half empty a lot of days. HOWEVER, when I step back and look at the big picture, I really am thankful for my job, especially with the Holidays coming up. Not only do I have above average in regular vacation, we also get a full week of either the week of Christmas or the week of New Year's that is not taken from our vacation. I am very thankful for that time off to spend with loved ones. I am also thankful for a job where I get a bonus around Christmas to help with the cost of presents. I am thankful that I have a really awesome boss that doesn't make coming to work absolutely miserable. November 14-17h I am very thankful that I have a job and all the positive things that come from it. I am thankful I am not unemployed and that I can pay all my bills/expenses on my own.

Day 18: Texas A&M University
I wish that Friday would have just been another day; however, it marked 12 years since the Aggie Bonfire collapsed and killed 12 Aggies. Texas A&M University is a big family. Say what you want about us being crazies with all of our traditions and cult like mentality, but there is truly a spirit that can ne'er be told. I want to share a quote from an article that was published in Texas Monthly in November of 2009, which was the 10 year anniversary of the collapse of the bonfire.
“The bonfire symbolizes two things,” reads the 1947 Texas A&M freshman handbook. “A burning desire to beat the team from the University of Texas, and the undying flame of love that every loyal Aggie carries in his heart for the school.”
This statement, along with a lot of other moments from that tragic day fill the pages of that November 2009 issue that sits on my counter. I don't ever save magazines but that one I will always keep. I recommend reading the article in full to anyone-Aggie Bonfire- Ring of Fire. It covers not only the history of Bonfire, but it also paints of vivid picture of the bravery of the Aggie students, football team, and staff/faculty that would not stop until all Aggies were recovered from the pile of wood. I cried reading the article and my heart hearts every year on November 18th, but you can bet every time I look down at this little gold ring on my right hand ring finger, my heart swells with pride. I am so honored to be a part of the Aggie family. I am proud to say that I attended and graduated from Texas A&M University and am extremely thankful that I met some of my best friends and the love of my life while I was there. I am thankful for the lessons I learned while I was there, especially the ones not in any classroom. November 18th I am thankful for Texas A&M University. I am thankful for the generations of students that came before me and helped shape and create the core values and traditions of the university. I am thankful for the future students that will keep those traditions going strong for years to come. And I am beyond thankful for the memories that I have from those 4 years in College Station, TX.

Day 19- Housewife
I have this friend, you MAY have heard me mention her (see stars in sky), she goes by Lauryn/Housewife and this girl is my best friend. Saturday after the Aggies BTHO Kansas, Trevor and I spent the rest of the evening with Lauryn and her bf Jordan (we so lovingly named them LoJo.). We really didn't do anything crazy, just dinner and a little wine after at the apartment but it totally didn't matter, still an awesome weekend. Little moments like having girl talk in her room while the boys watched, you guessed it, more football, are the reasons why I am thankful for her. She may be 2 years younger than me but don't let that fool you, she can dish out some pretty great advice. Even though I am technically an only child, a friendship like ours makes me feel like I have a sister.
November 19th, I am thankful for Lauryn W. I thank God that our paths somehow crossed and that we became friends. I am thankful for all the tough situations that each one of us has gotten the other one through, and the memories that we have made.

Day 20-My Dad
Yesterday, on his way home from Austin with his wife Debbie, my Dad stopped by my apartment for while just to visit. It was great seeing him and getting to actually talk face to face. It's been way to long since I have seen him. My Dad is not what you call lovey-dovey. He is more described as a "hard ass". We have had our good moments and we have had some really bad moments. But in the past couple of years, I feel like we finally got it right. My Dad was strict growing up, sometimes a little intense, but I feel like he played a huge role in shaping me into the person that I am today. Looking back now, I am thankful for the way he raised me, and for the "no room for error" tactic he used. I feel because of the way he raised/disciplined me that I have respect for others, I have manners, and I know not to walk loudly when you’re on the second floor of anything. :) I know that I need to turn off lights if I am not using them, and always do your chores, even when you don't want to. I know that you alone are responsible for your actions and blaming it on anything or anyone else just isn't acceptable.
November 20th, I am thankful for my Dad. I am thankful that he raised me the way he did. I am thankful for how hard he worked when I was young to support our family. I am thankful that we now have a great relationship and that we came back from the dark place that we went to during my parents’ divorce.

I am also thankful for short weeks! My thanksgiving break begins at 4 P.M. tomorrow and I cannot wait. Tomorrow evening is also our good friend J.C.'s birthday shindig, which is guaranteed to be a good time.

Happy Monday Dolls.

Highs and Lows

Ladies and Gentleman, I give you how the past week has gone for me in the form of a graph.
Please ignore the whole wavelength, distance, ECT. markings, the graph is for visual purposes only.

Let's begin with last Thursday evening...

High Point- Oktoberfest for work=Super fun, lots of free food&alcohol, and dancing. It was so much better than last year when I went after only working here for 2 months and didn't really know anyone. This year was much better; having a group of work friends and my extremely personable date once again made it a very enjoyable night.
Me and my hott date!
work lunch buddy and friend

Low Point- Getting my hung over butt to work at 7AM on Friday. However, the random compliments on my dancing skills and how incredibly nice my date was (Trevor) made work not so difficult to get through. (That, and everyone else was just as hung-over if not worse)

Staying at Low Point- It took Trevor and me 4 hours to get to Aggieland on Friday night. It was totally our own fault but still, for Pete's sake (who the heck is Pete anyway?) College Station is only 84 miles from Houston!

High Point- Being in College Station Saturday morning already since the game started at 11. (Thanks Housewife Hotel)

Low Point- Having to change a flat tire on Cammy (My Camry) on Saturday morning when we went to go buy the precious Andre for "Dat Crew Tailgating". It's a game day tradition that the group drinks two bottles (as a group, not individually. We're not drunks!) of Andre on the way to the game. Very important stuff.

High Point- Watching the Aggies B.T.H.O. Baylor one last time, at home, in Kyle Field! WHOOP!
My shirt=awesomesauce. Myself, Heather L, and Marina tailgating pre-game.
Fightin' Texas Aggie band!
Gosh I love A&M. :)
White out game.
Low Point- Go back to HW Hotel to get our stuff before tailgating some more only to find out that Cammy had been towed. Thank you College Station for adding tow number three to my record in that town.

High Point- Boyfriend Paid for tow fee. :)

Low point- driving Cammy home on a spare tire, it's not the smallest doughnut tire, but definitely not the same shoe she is use to having.

High Point- (for Trevor and for my sanity) - Rangers win game 6 and are in the World Series.

Low Point- Not having Chanel home with us on Saturday night because it was too late to pick her up that night.

High Point-Waking up at home and not on an air mattress Sunday morning, we decide to make our own brunch and Poinsettias (champagne and fruit punch).

Low (but extremely funny) point- Only having 1/3 of a bottle of champagne after Trevor soaked down my carpet, couch pillows, part of the TV., and the path all the way to the kitchen with Champagne when he went to open it. His face was priceless. Once we realized all the electronics were safe we laughed for a good 5 minutes.

High Point- Having a really (rare) relaxing Sunday that involved movies, football, getting our daughter back, and sushi that night.

As for the work week so far, we have pretty much gone back to normal...
(again ignore headers and lables please)
steadily rising as each day passes bringing up closer to another, what is sure to be, memorable weekend. Friends in from out of town, bridesmaid dress shopping, one of the best friend's baby shower (holy mother of pearl my friends are starting to have babies???) and a birthday celebration at Pete's Piano Bar downtown, BRING.IT.ON.

It also doesn't hurt that today is my Friday. :)

Happy Thursday dolls.

Weekend Wrap-up and Good Things Coming

Hello Dolls!

This past weekend was a very busy one for me mainly because Trevor and I house/dog sat for his boss and I worked the entire weekend. His boss always watches Chanel for us when we go out of town for Aggie games. It's great for Chanel because she doesn't have to be locked up all day while we are at the game and she has 7 other play buddies. So we decided we should return the favor when she went on vacation this weekend. Did I mention she has 7 dogs? Yeah, forgot that little detail. There is Petunia (the leader of the group and miniature boxer), Cindy(the sweetheart and chihuahua/dachshund mix), Wren(the man of the house and chihuahua), Lucy(the playful chubby chihuahua), Sadie(the smart one and jack russell), Becky(the shy one, not sure what kind) and Peanut(the new puppy) who is a 4 month old "Chug", cross between a chihuahua and a pug. Come on people keep up! Add an Australian Shepherd in the mix that wants to heard groups of anything and you've got a party! It was interesting to say the least. Chanel slept like a rock last night from her very social weekend.

I had to work all day Saturday but it was still a good day, GOD answered all of my prayers. t.u. got the CRAP kicked out of them by Oklahoma and the Aggies B.T.H.O. those idiots in Lubbock (except for Matt, he's an exception). But seriously, what kind of students trash the opposing team's buses by throwing fecal matter and spray painting them black and red??? Oh by the way tech tards, the buses are locally owned and do not belong to the Aggies, thanks and Gig'Em. The game had some stressful moments...this photo says it all.
Coco, Trev, and J.C.; This is how they looked most of the game, unless they were up screaming at the TV or high-fiving everyone.
Needless to say I was overjoyed to see the Aggies actually play a second half unlike the 2 previous weeks and get the "W". We had a great time watching the game at the Surber's house with some good friends.

Sunday morning I had to work again, which was unfortunate because I would have liked to have continued celebrating the Ag's win Saturday night, but Texan's football calls. But if I did have to go into work, I am glad that this is my office.
Not even open to the fans yet. Pretty cool seeing Reliant at this time.
Sadly though, my sports prayers must have been all used up for the weekend because the dang Raiders ended up beating us in the 4th. I think since their owner passed, God let them get the win. It could also have something to do with Andre Johnson aka Dre aka AJ being out on injury, just maybe...
We didn't lose for lack of support. However, I am quite sure Trevor was not  thrilled about his daughter supporting the Texans, hehe.
And here we are again on Monday, the day that starts the beginning of another countdown till the weekend. Let's face it, you have to look forward to something to get you through the week. Here are the top 5 things I am looking forward this week/weekend.

1.Pumpkin Carving Party at Houswife's place Friday night. Oh yeah that's right, we get crazy.
2. Oktoberfest-Annual work function this Thursday that involves the Crystal Ballroom in downtown Houston, unlimited wine/beer, dancing, valet parking, and ice sculptures. Plus you get to bring a date. WINNING!
3. Kim Kardashian's wedding special: Part 2 that comes on tonight. (Stop judging me)
4.Only working half a day on Thursday due to # 2. Winning AGAIN!
5. WATCHING THE AGGIES B.T.H.O. THOSE STUPID "TRIED TO KEEP US IN THE BIG 12 BUT DIDN'T WORK" baylor bears!

Happy Monday Dolls! It's halfway over.

P.S.-Please pray that I still have a job come Monday. Why you ask? Well the deal is, several of our executives/owners of the company went to and played football for Baylor. My word vomit friendly trash talking continues to get worse every time they walk by and I am sure will only continue the closer game day gets.

A little late...Weekend Wrap Up

Good Tuesday Everyone!

I hope everyone had as great as a weekend as I did. As you already know I went home to good Old Bridge City this weekend with Trevor for a friend’s wedding. We got to spend some "Quality" time with friends and family. Here is the weekend in pictures. :)

I don't have anything from Friday but dinner with my dad was delicious. :)

Saturday we started off with IHOP then bowling with Mom, her boyfriend Keith, and his son Blake.

Trevor killed in on the first game. Notice his intense stance and firm concentration.

My awesome Mom about to bowl.

I remember wanting to steal these shoes when I was younger. What the Eff was I thinking??? They are not exactly fun to look at.

2nd game score. 2nd place for me. :) Trevor did okay...It's okay Trev, better luck next time.

My childhood best friend got married. I was so glad to be there and be a part of her big day. The ceremony was really special and the reception was a lot of fun. She looked beautiful. They had a photo booth too which was really cool. I'll try to get the pictures uploaded on here soon.

Okay so I know you’re probably wondering what is with the random angry cartoon...well in between the wedding and going to meet Housewife and other friends I went to get out of the car and my phone was on my lap. Needless to say the final score was phone-0 contrete-1. I then proceeded to throw an only child 5 year old tantrum for about 5 minutes  60 seconds before Trevor calmed me down and reassured me that I was not the first person to severely crack my phone screen. All I have to say is thank GOD for insurance.

After the phone fiasco, we finally made it to The West Bar and Grill in Beaumont where we met up with Housewife, Jordan, and Alison.

Even though Trevor and I were way overdressed for this particular bar we had a lot of fun before we moved over the The Pace Setter where I saw many old friends. It was great.

One of the old faces we saw was Jesus'. Lauryn, Jesus, Trevor, and I all were a part of a crazy out of control Spring Break in 2010. We also all spent a lot of time on Northgate my senior year of college. We all had a lot of fun at Pace Setter and I know Trevor really enjoyed catching up with him.

Lauryn + Danni + Dance floor = dancing fools.

On Sunday we went a visited my grandparents for a while before we headed back to Houston pretty early because Trevor had a golf game to get too. Sunday evening this was Chanel curled up on the couch. She was pretty tuckered out from dealing with a moody small dog all weekend who just didn't want to play with her. (HOW RUDE!) Anyways, that is exactly how I felt after a great weekend home too, exhausted. I promise you though I didn't look NEARLY as cute as she did at this point Sunday evening. hah.

Now I just have to make it though the next 2 and a half hours of this horrible work  day before gym time and time with the BF that can always turn a subpar day around.

Happy Tuesday Dolls.
